Open a bank account
It is a good idea to open a bank account as soon as possible. Your employer will need a bank account number so they can put your wages directly into the account.
EFTPOS - most shops accept eftpos. With an eftpos card from your bank account you can make purchases and payment/ money is taken directly (debited) from your bank account.
The main banks are: ASB, ANZ, BNZ, Kiwibank, National, Westpac.
To open an acccount banks normally require you to bring 3 sets of identification such as your passport, drivers license, etc. You will also need a personal IRD number.
