There are a huge number of pre-school options to choose from - kindergartens, play centres and private early childhood centres. CINCH lists 291 preschool centres available in Christchurch.
Pre-school services are in high demand so it is advisable to register your child’s name as soon as possible.
Some pre-school services, such as kindergartens three- to five-year olds, continue to be subsidised by the government. Parents are required to pay a small, regular donation which pays for art supplies, play equipment and toys.
